Butterflies are cold-blooded. They sun and shade to regulate their body temperature. Provide some sunny areas in your garden for sun bathing. Also, provide some shady areas for them to cool off when it is hot.

Several male species of butterflies enjoy frolicking in mud puddles. It would be very hospitable to provide this luxury for your guests. Sink a shallow galvanized
bucket in the ground to it´s rim. Fill the bucket with rocks, gravel, or sand (a little dirt won´t hurt). Pour in some water, stale beer, sweet drinks (non-carbonated), or a combination
thereof. Top off with some over ripe fruit as available. They will love it!
